 At the end of the screening of second compilation movie, Overlord: Shikkoku no Tenshi (Overlord: The Dark Warrior), it was announced that Overlord will receive a second season. The screening also revealed an announcement video revealing the second season.Overlord is written by Kugane Maruyama with illustrations by so-bin, and was initially serialized as a web novel in September 2010. Kadokawa began publishing the series under the Enterbrain label in July 2012. A manga adaptation drawn by Fugin Miyama has been serialized in the Comp Ace magazine since November 2014. The series previously received a 13-episode TV anime adaptation in Summer 2015 and two compilation movie in February and March of 2017 by studio Madhouse. In addition, the franchise also received an OVA along with 8-special episodes that were bundled with the Blu-ray and DVD volumes between September 2015 and February 2016. | The signs are all there with the recap movies but it actually got S2. Still waiting if Madhouse will be doing it or not. Out of the sequels to their S1s (OPM 2, NGNL movie, Mahouka movie), only NGNL movie is currently confirmed to be done by them while Mahouka movie went to 8-bit (OPM 2 is still TBA). |

| Everybody is like "please NGNL S2 announcement now Madhouse please!" My dear people. I beseech you, please remain calm. Overlord took two recap movies before it got a season 2 announcement. Let's give Madhouse the benefit of the doubt for now, and at least wait until the NGNL movie has screened before passing judgment. If there was ever an opportune time for an announcement, it would be with the movie premiere. |

| Tbh if a lower budget equals more Overlord, I don't care. Last season's budget was sufficient for me to really enjoy it. Of course, more would be better but if I had to choose between that and a third season, I would rather a third season after next. |
